Making an Adoption Plan

Adoption Home

Contact Greenleaf Family Center at the moment you realize you must consider options to this untimely, or unplanned pregnancy. If you feel confused, frightened, alone, and uncertain about your choices, your counselor will support and guide you to make a decision that is in your and your baby’s best interest. This may or may not be adoption.

Should you choose to make an adoption plan, write down or tell the counselor everything you want the baby to know about you and his or her birth family. Make sure you give a complete family health history so your baby can get good care now and in the future.

Most adopted children will want to learn more about their birth family as they grow up. Please give as much information as possible to help answer your child’s questions. Your adoption counselor will also tell you how you can leave more information for your child at a later time.

You have a right to read "Dear Birth Parent Letters" and review photo albums of the prospective adoptive families. Whenever possible, Greenleaf Family Center will try to place your baby with the family you choose.

Your adoption counselor will support and guide you through every stage of this journey, and beyond. It is helpful to continue counseling even after a permanent plan made for your baby, allowing you to deal with emotional, and psychological needs.
