Educational programs that explore family and individual concerns.

Parenting Classes

  • Parenting Your Infant

  • Active Parenting: Ages 1-4

  • Active Parenting Now for parents of children K-4th grade.

  • Families in Action--for teens and parents to attend simultaneously to improve communication and learn to get along.

SPARK Ohio: Summit County

SPARK Ohio: Summit County is a FREE program to help 3- and 4-year –old children get ready for Kindergarten in the Leggett, Mason, McEbright, and Robinson Elementary School attendance areas.

SPARK Ohio: Summit County offers families a wide variety of support services to help their children get ready for kindergarten, including:

  • Monthly home visits

  • A new, free book each month

  • Fun activities with art supplies to go along with each book

  • Follow-up services (Example: Help with speech and language)

  • A learning plan for your child

  • A step-by-step guide to kindergarten registration

  • School supplies to start kindergarten

Other Classes include

  • Peaceful Peers and Guided Girls--self esteem, anger management and social skill classes for children (grades 3 – 6)

  • Interview Skills and Resume Building

  • Odd Girl Out—for mothers and daughters to learn about relational aggression (a form of bullying)

  • Don’t Laugh at Me | Let's smile together (classroom guidance K-8)

  • Couples Relationships

  • The Single Parent Experience

  • Children of Divorce

  • Money Management

  • Sign Language

We can arrange Lunch Bunch groups at places of employment for parenting or stress management. Call us to learn more about this or about the possibility of other community presentations.

Teenage Parents Program
Provides services for pregnant and parenting teens and their babies. Case management, education and groups are provided by trained personnel. Young Parents Club meets twice a month for parents and their children and van transportation is available if needed.

Community Based Programs
Provides programming related to family stability, school success, pregnancy prevention, and juvenile diversion. Programs include: Teens on Task, Akron Alternative Academy, and TACKLE.
