Financial Services for Families

Maintaining a job is not easy for working parents. It becomes more difficult when special needs arise that a family isn’t prepared for. For example, when the family car finally gives out.

The Financial Services for Families Program is available to help families overcome this obstacle. We help working families who have no other funding sources available to them.

The sole purpose of the Financial Services for Families program is to assist parents so that they may remain employed. Applicants also receive budget counseling to learn how to increase income and decrease expenses.

Loan Purpose

Automobile purchase only.

Loan Eligibility

To be considered for a loan, an applicant must:

  • Have no other source for a loan.

  • Be employed at least 20 hours per week with six months consecutive employment.

  • Be a single parent or two-parent head of household at least 18 years of age.

  • Be a custodial parent of one or more minor children.

  • Be a resident of Summit, Portage, or Medina County.

  • Have a household income no greater than 80% of the area’s median income.

  • Must demonstrate ability to make monthly payments

Loans are available to qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex or marital status (provided that the applicant has the capacity to enter into a binding contract) because all or part of the applicant’s income is derived from any public assistance program or because applicant has, in good faith exercised any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act.

Loan decisions are made by a volunteer Loan committee. Your application is presented anonymously and your name is not revealed to the Loan Committee. All information is confidential.

Credit Counseling
