Celebrating Families! is a family-based drug and alcohol prevention program focused on children 0-10 years old who have parents in recovery from substance abuse. This national, evidence-based program provides education and support for children and families coping with the recovery process in order to increase the protective factors for these children who are at increased risk for substance abuse. The program also strives to break the cycle of addiction. Celebrating Families! is a sixteen-session series that meets once a week for sixteen weeks. Each session includes a family dinner, age-based educational programming, and family activities. Family members at all ages learn, in fun and interactive ways, information and skills that help them maintain a healthy, substance-free lifestyle and positive family relationships such as:
- Facts about alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs
- How Chemical Dependency affects families
- Communication and expressing feelings
- Resistance skills
- Choosing safe friends
- Problem solving skills
This program will begin the next 16-week virtual series on February 23, 2021. Please contact our Director of Prevention and Community Services, April Brewer, at 330-376-9494 Ext 221 to register.
